InCollection visual identity – Digital design, brand design, experience design, graphic design

InCollection is a series of annual commissions and exhibitions produced jointly by Saastamoinen Foundation and EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art

Through InCollection, Saastamoinen Foundation develops its permanent collection by commissioning an artwork from a visionary artist.  The artist creates the work site-specifically for the museum’s architecture and its surroundings. A curated exhibition is organized in conjunction with the commission to shed further light on the artist’s current practice. The project goes beyond a conventional exhibition or commission in offering artists an opportunity to create a compelling spatial experience with a long lifespan. The work is created exclusively for EMMA and will remain in the Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection after the exhibition. Linked together as a series, each artist adds their distinct voice to a gradually expanding constellation. Solution

Kuudes is a proud collaborator with EMMA and Saastamoinen Foundation by creating the visual identity and website for the InCollection series as well as the exhibition design for the annual exhibitions.

The idea behind the visual identity was to create a clean platform to showcase the visionary artists joining the InCollection series continuum.

The website was designed to introduce the collection in a digital format, aiming to be a virtual reality with a look and feel as stunning as the actual artworks and exhibitions inside the physical space of EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art.

Co-creating visual identity

Every exhibition identity is created in close dialogue with the artist to support the vision and highlight the artworks commissioned to the collection. Annually, the overall identity of the exhibition draws inspiration from the chosen contemporary artist, and the outcome includes the space and digital design as well as print materials. Kuudes has been privileged to collaborate with EMMA and Saastamoinen Foundation to design the visual identity for the exhibitions of Alicja Kwade, Tatsuo Miyajima, Eeva-Leena Eklund, and Lilac Ice, Chiharu Shiota, Pilvi Takala, Pierre Huyghe and Tschabalala Self.
