The most important and inspiring event of the year in the food industry

The Nordic Food Branding 2017, organized by Kuudes, brings internationally renowned names of the food industry to Finland this September: As Arla’s innovation director, Arun Prabhu has launched several successful products globally. Magnus Leydner is a former McDonald’s executive, currently the CEO of Beijing8 – a restaurant and ready-to-eat food concept. Brett Donahay, strategy director of the UK agency Eatbigfish, has worked with the most renowned brands of the world, such as H&M and Pepsi. Kalle Freese first brought new life to the coffee culture in Helsinki, now he disrupts the business in Silicon Valley. 

Hear them share their views on how Finnish food companies could go international and grow profitably with design thinking. The morning will consist of thought-provoking stories and speeches on disruptions to the food industry, growth potential of ready-to-eat meals and the importance of consumer insight in the global market. Following that, Kuudes will share their research-based knowledge of consumer purchasing behaviour and disclose the secrets of building thriving brands. The seminar gets a kickstart with a mouthwatering breakfast by Bronda.

The seminar will be hosted by Kuudes, a Nordic brand design agency and the leading builder of food brands and concepts in Finland. 40 designers in Helsinki and Stockholm combine in-depth consumer insight, strategic brand consultancy and multi-disciplinary design.

Arun Prabhu works as a Global Category Director at Arla. He is a serial innovator and the man behind many big ideas. After leaving his first career in advertising, Prahbu has been responsible for several internationally successful launches, such as Starbucks ready-to-drink iced coffees, Arla Baby&Me and Skyr.

Magnus Leydner

CEO, Beijing8

Beijing8 is a fast-growing restaurant and store concept that sells Chinese dumplings and tea in Sweden, Italy, France and Finland. Leydner became the CEO of the company in December 2016 after having worked in leadership positions with McDonald’s in Scandinavia and the US. One of his guidelines is: “Think like a brand, act like a retailer”.

Brett Donahay

Strategy Director, Eatbigfish

Eatbigfish is a UK-based consulting agency focused on challenger brands. As the Strategy Director of the agency, Donahay has worked with multiple global food and drink brands, such as Pepsi, Lipton Ice Tea, Carlsberg, Milka and Unilever. In addition to large companies, he has a vast experience in consulting companies with great ambitions but small resources. For more than 15 years, Donahay has built ‘brands that matter’ to people by adhering to a ‘do more with less‘ philosophy.

Kalle Freese

Co-Founder, Sudden Coffee

Kalle is two-time Finnish Barista Champion and was ranked as the 9th best barista in the world in 2015. Before tinkering with instant coffee he founded award-winning Freese Coffee in Helsinki. Sudden Coffee was created to make it easier for anyone to enjoy great coffee wherever they are.
